Jay Matthis

Managing Director

I’ve always been curious about how and why things work, which led me to a 30-year career in Design Engineering and Product Development across medical, automotive, commercial, and consumer goods industries. With a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters in Product Design and Development, and certification as a New Product Development Professional (NPDP), I’ve helped bring innovative ideas to life, earning 10 patents along the way.

Beyond engineering, my passion is mentorship. With over 25 years of experience guiding youth and professionals, I believe product design is a powerful way to teach problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. I show young people that their mind is a supercomputer, capable of turning ideas into reality, just like 3D printing transforms designs into physical products.

As a hip-hop and sports enthusiast, I see clear connections between engineering, creativity, and the pursuit of excellence. Whether someone is on the mic, the court, or the drafting table, success follows a process—learning, iterating, and executing with precision.

Through ArcFlow Academy, my mission is to inspire the next generation to explore engineering, develop innovative solutions, and unlock new opportunities for their future.
